Parental Code of Conduct Pledge:

Parents must pledge to provide positive support, care and encouragement for their child’s participation in the Des Moines Figure Skating Club by following this Code of Conduct:

1. Parents will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all skaters, coaches, other parents and adults, judges and officials at every practice, show, test event or competition.

2. Parents will place the emotional and physical well-being of their child ahead of personal desires.

3. Parents will provide support for all coaches and officials working with their child to provide a positive, enjoyable experience for all.

4. Parents will demand a drug and alcohol free sports environment for their child.

5. Parents will ask their child to treat other skaters, coaches, adults, judges and officials with respect, good manner and common decency regardless of race, sex, creed, color or ability.

6. Parents will refrain from bringing personal issues into the rink and will not subject their child, other skaters or other parents to personal arguments.

DMFSC Parent/Skater Expectations:

The Des Moines Figure Skating Club exists because of dedicated volunteers. Our club is responsible for many events during the year which require volunteers to make them successful. Volunteer opportunities involve fundraising events, test sessions, shows, and many others. It is expected and necessary that each member (parent) help in some capacity during the year.

The Club understands that from time-to-time young skaters must be left without parental supervision. However, it is expected that for skaters under the age of 13, notification that the skater is being left unsupervised and a cell phone number should be given to another parent or responsible party.
